Time Accounting
The FireManager offers two methods of time accounting: daily rosters and time cards. Typically, daily rosters are used to account for shift employees and time cards are used for administrative staff. As an alternative, however, daily rosters can be used for staff employees.
Daily Rosters
A daily roster provides a complete and accurate accounting of affected personnel for a single day or shift. Daily rosters are normally maintained by a shift supervisor, such as a battalion chief or a staffing officer.
When a roster is built, it takes into account the date, shift on duty and battalion to determine which employees should normally be working. This information comes from the status records found in Employee Profile. Next, the leave schedule and shift trades are examined to determine who is scheduled to be off. The roster is then presented to the user for editing.
Employees can be moved from unit to unit or placed on leave by dragging and dropping them on the desired destination. Vacancies can be filled by either upgrading another employee that is already on duty and is qualified to work in that position or by selecting somebody from the overtime signup list. |
Time Cards
A more traditional way of accounting for time is the time card. The FireManager makes this process easy and paperless.
Employees simply add a time card for a specified period, typically a week. The Generate Timecard button can automatically fill out the entire time card, based on the assigned work schedule and the leave calendar. Exceptions, such as unexpected sick leave are easily added by dragging and dropping hours to a new category.

Whether you use time cards or rosters, these documents serve as the single point of entry for time worked and leave taken in our powerful payroll system. As timecards and rosters are being completed, pay rates are being calculated and stored with each time record. Accuracy is checked using our paperless time card review process.
