Castle Rock Fire and Rescue
The Castle Rock Fire and Rescue Department (CRFD) protects the life and property of all residents in a 75-square-mile area including the Town of Castle Rock and the Castle Rock Fire Protection District in Douglas County, Colorado. Founded in 1892, the department has 78 (76 uniformed staff) career and volunteer personnel who staff four stations 24 hours a day to provide fire and emergency medical services to the community.
The department has 15 apparatus including one aerial, three engines, and two medic units staffed every day. A full service, "all-hazards" organization, CRFD provides fire prevention/inspection services, fire suppression (structural, wildland, and vehicle), advanced life support emergency medical services (paramedic ambulance transportation), public and risk reduction education, hazardous materials response and mitigation, and technical rescue (trench, confined space, building collapse, and water rescue) services. In 2006, the Department responded to more than 3,500 calls.
Castle Rock Fire purchased The FireManager in 2002. The software was implemented in a phased approach to allow time for the end user to become familiar with the product, while also allowing our IT personnel to become knowledgeable with the hardware and software requirements.
Starting with Life Safety, then to NFIRS and EMS reporting, and finally to Human Resources, The FireManager has been “a total package” that has improved the way the Department functions. |

As with many electronic solutions, we had a number of people who were hesitant to try “another RMS system.” Today, when the laptops are taken out of the units for maintenance, our crews want to know how long it will be, as they don’t want to leave the station without them. From electronic patient care reports in the field to remote access to data analysis and statistics, The FireManager continues to exceed our expectations.
Working with High Plains has been exceptionally easy, and the company is responsive to our requests. This acquisition was one of the best moves the Department has ever made. |
